Philosophy

I am interested in evolution and innovation in governance, especially environmental and spatial governance, and development. Questions of citizen participation and self- organization loom large, the potential and limitations of institutional design, the importance of legacies from the past and dependencies in the present. Each and every attempt to solve a problem by means of new policies, plans and designs, does so in a context shaped by previous policies, plans and designs, and by their effects on roles, rules and on physical space.
